What to Expect:

The therapies we administer aid in improving the three main causes of learning issues which are sensory, auditory and visual processing skills. In addition, iLs is highly effective in helping those with true ADD / ADHD (attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders).

iLs is based on the work of the highly acclaimed Dr. Tomatis. Dr. Tomatis' research indicated the ear serves as the battery to the brain. When the brain is "fed" specific sound frequencies many areas of a person's life may improve as a result. These frequencies stimulate the vestibular system and cochlea in the inner ear as well as the entire central nervous system. Therefore, the results and improvements can be global and varied.

Clients do not need a diagnosis to benefit from our therapies. We see a wide spectrum of people with a variety of learning issues. A listening test is given prior to receiving treatment. This test is administered with an audiometer. Sound frequencies from 125 Hz to 8,000 Hz are utilized and listening with both air conduction and bone conduction are assessed (see the Services page for further scientific information and explanation). This test reveals the frequencies a person would most benefit from in regard to therapeutic intervention. Each program is tailored to the individual and is based on the listening test, an educational assessment and the background information on the initial intake form.

At the conclusion of therapy significant improvements may be seen in several or more of the following areas: reading, spelling, writing, listening, attention, focus, organization, comprehension, visual, auditory and/or sensory processing skills, independence in regard to homework, speech, memory, math, stress levels, mood, social skills, balance, coordination, right-left discrimination, creativity, musical ability and sports performance.
